Saving Files Using Library Computers
Here are some tips for happy saving when you're using Library computers.1. Do NOT save to the My Documents folder. Do not save to the desktop.(Your document will be deleted when you log out of the computer).
2. Save to a USB drive or a CD. Or you may choose to copy and paste your file into an email and email it to yourself.
You may also use Google Docs or Hotmail-based Word & Excel (SkyDrive).

EBSCO audiobooks subscription ends today,
December 1.
There will be no transition of accounts from EBSCO to OneClick, so users
will need to create new accounts at OneClick. Files that are currently
checked out from EBSCO will continue to be active through the full loan
period, but will not be renewed.
The audiobooks profile will be disabled
tomorrow and links referencing it directly may result in error. Instead,
consider linking to our eContent site with information about the
OneClickdigital service at http://gowyld.net/econtent/
And... there's a Frequently Asked Questions page that you should review:
http://gowyld.net/econtent/faq.html
There is a help page for Mac users on the eContent site at GoWYLD.
Click on the big link to OneClick on the main eContent page at http://gowyld.net/econtent/
On the OneClick information page, click on the link "MacOS-special instructions"
Try not to confuse iPods/iPod Touch and iPod Nanos with Macintosh
operating system users. People who have PCs but use iPods will be able to
use all the content on the OneClick site as long as they install the Media
Manager. However, people who have Macintosh computers will not be able to
use any files that are WMA format. They will need to only download
unencrypted files using the manual method (there are links to instructions
on that page)
The good news is that this is a temporary problem. OneClick will soon be
releasing Media Manager software for Macs that will allow users to
download and transfer *all* the files on the OneClick site regardless of
whether they are rights protected (encrypted) or not. They expect this
release within the next two weeks.
"I am happy to announce that the Wyoming State Library will contract with 3M to become an early adopter of 3M's Cloud Library. We hope to begin implementation in January and we hope that this downloadable eBook platform will provide a good solution for our state. More details about this new service will follow as we begin implementation, but here is brief review of some of the features.
- Every library in the WYLDcat system will have access to a shared site with a shared collection. (Unfortunately, 3M cannot currently work with multiple authentication services, so UW patrons cannot be included in the license.)
- We will purchase title-by-title and will own the titles we purchase. Like most other downloadable eBook platforms, 3M employs a one-book, one-user-at-a-time model.
- New titles can be added to the group collection and will be accessible to everyone. Some Wyoming libraries have already offered to contribute funds to add more titles to our collection.
- 3M currently works with most eReaders except for Kindle. We know that this is a disadvantage. 3M also knows that this is a serious disadvantage for their product and they are currently negotiating with Amazon.
- 3M has developed eReaders that can be purchased by libraries and circulated among patrons.
Again, we will know more soon and will keep you informed as the implementation progresses. If you have questions, please ask and I will do my best to find the answers. Also, please refer to the attachment for more information on 3M Cloud Library, or to this short video: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=iOYSQv-12RY."
